Next week (March 29th) the USCGC Chase is scheduled to be decommissioned in San Diego.  Many of the "old crew" from the Chase Assoc. will be in attendance.  I served on the Chase as an RM many, many years ago.  The Chase will be handed off to the Nigerian Navy.  Time of many mixed emotions, but one thing that bothers me, I notices there is no Cutter Chase in the near future, does anybody know if this name will be carried on one of the new class Cutters?  If so, do you know the type and when it is due to be commissioned?

I did some time on the sherman 720 back in 1980 we were in alameda along with midget , rush, and two others i forget the names sorry.

We did Alaska fishierie patrols.

Is the sherman the oldest of the 378's?

I think the Hamilton was the first 378.

Hard to believe that many years has passed.  I remember when they were being built, and I went to Nam on the Mellon when she was less than two years old.

I have not heard of any naming of new cutters to be the Chase.

Served on her out of Boston 79-80 as RMIC.

Best Wishes
