Stan .. I was wondering if anyone was going to catch that listing error by the dealer.  Not only is the name Mellon mispelled it is definately NOT Vietnam era by what you pointed out, but the Mellon depicted on the patch looks to be post FRAM.

I think I saw one of the 60's era flat hats advertised on there as a WW II hat too.

Pretty obvious the seller doesn't know much about the CG or its uniforms.  I bought that same set of Blues, complete with dragon, at the tailor shop in Alameda in 1960. Embarrased  I wore them until I got out in '73.

Ron,  If you have an Ebay ID maybe you could send the lady some feedback about this.  Basically she is mirepresenting what she is selling, probably through ignorance.

Stan .... I sent the dealer an FYI through the ebay message system advising that the Dress Blues jumper is from the 1960s.

Thanks Ron.  I'm sure she just didn't know what she had.

FWIW, that MCPO CG cap insignia might just be quite a collectors item. Seems to me  that somewhere there is a notice or request to the manufacturers of the insignia and rating badges to not make them available for general sale. Supposedly  should be available on a fairly restricted basis to the MCPO-CG and MCPO-N .

May be a little dated info, but thought I'd throw it out there.

THANKS FOR THE INFO DANA ... MUCH APPRECIATED, BUOY

There's a site called motionmodels.com that has an EXTENSIVE collection of CG models they will custom make.  Seven types of CG airframes, too.

I found a TPSB model, also.  The class of each boat or cutter listed can be customized to the particular name/number.

The ONLY drawback is the price.  $65...AN INCH!

Still, awesome models for those who don't mind the expense.  Each model is carved out of a solid block of mahogany.

Thanks Jerry ... We've actually had two discussions regarding USCG models so we are aware of Motion Models.

Ron- thanks for putting these items on here, I just won the 1970, pre-strip Firebush zippo lighter. Would never have seen it if it weren't for you, thanks again

Hey Jamie ... that's great news shipmate and that is exactly why I trace CG items on ebay.  You got a VERY RARE lighter at a great price.  What makes that lighter so rare is that it depicts a period of time of less than two years in the 50 plus years the FIREBUSH served.  In 1967 with the switch of the CG from the U.S. Treasury to the Dept. of Transportation, the CG dropped the USN designation of WAGL for buoy tenders and went with the USCG designation WLB for seagoing buoy tenders.  Then in 1968 the CG "racing stripe" was added to USCG assets which makes your lighter one that marks a turning point in the history of the USCG.  Post WAGL and pre CG racing stripe.  Thought you might like to have this little history to go with your newly acquired lighter.

I know a number of us have found some items we've wanted.  I got a MESQUITE baseball cap and also my Sturgeon Bay unit patch I thought I would never see again after my utility jacket got stolen.  That unused Sturgeon Bay "SENTINEL OF THE DOOR" unit patch you see in my SigLine insert could very well be the only one of its's kind in existence.
