I am not the first nor the only Coastie to have visited or posted on usmilnet, but it appears that I have been the most active one.  For a long time I’ve been wishing that this room (Coast Guard) would get active; for a variety of reasons it’s getting there  Bravo.  Because of the growing activity, the powers that be have decided that a mod would be a good idea, well here I am.  Now before you go saying “aw **** here we go again” hear me out.  You’ll find that moderation on this site is considerably different; I consider my job as being one of making everybody comfortable and acting as a kind of welcoming committee for new recruits.  Banning or even suspension is a rarity here; hey, if you guys get into it and want to call each other a butthead go for it, get it off your chest, get over it and move on.  As I mentioned in another thread, the only real, hard fast rule is no direct shots at the CIC; knock policies etc., but no direct hits on the office or the person.

Now that that’s done with I’d like to wish you an official welcome.  Look around some of the other sites, I think you’ll enjoy them.  The common meeting ground is the USO Club; you’re more than welcome to visit and participate in the other services’ rooms, but as a favor to me, remember that you are a guest there and they will show the same respect when they are visiting here.

Ok, too long, I’m losing some of you.  Welcome aboard and enjoy.   \Smiley USCG Flag  Semper Paratus

LMAO  Thanks for the congrats.  Good point about the "****" though; as you look around, you'll find that salty language is not blocked here.  If this offends you or if you have kids that might want to view the site you can turn on a filter; you can find it in the "Look and Layout" portion of your profile.  Fair warning, if you turn on the filter and check out some of the threads in the USO Club you might not get anything but a page full of ****** ******* and ******  ROTF ROTF.  Enjoy!

I thought I'd give fair warning in case they had the filter turned on and wandered over to the ktoph rant thread; they might think they've got a computer malfunction  ROTF ROTF

I know you're joking, but DAMN! I wish I could live there. That's where I went last year for my Honeymoon....well, right South at Ka'anapala, north of Lahaina. Maui was friggin' awesome.

I spent 11 days at the Resort at Kapalua Bay back in late Jan - early Feb. Once it stopped raining - the first 3 days we were there - it was absolutely beautiful!

We could sit on our patio and watch the whales.

We went out  on a dive/snorkel trip on this incredible catamaran. It slept 16! We were a group of 30 (all friends) and some of the guys got into the water....5 or 6 of them...and one of the "hands" yelled to them...If you float on your back and be real quiet you can hear the whales sing. Well, the guys are floating...and all of a sudden, one yells...I can hear them! ...another says the same thing...then we all - on the catamaran saw this big-ass whale!!!! The girl (the hand) starts yelling for the guys to get up on the catamaran and to hurry.

You know....when you have a whale right next to you...you can walk on water!!!!

Those guys scrambled up the center stairs so fast...then we watched these 2 whales jump all around us!

It was an incredible experience!!!

So was flying in a little bitty helicopter with a VietNam Vet all over Molokai and Maui....that scared the hell out of me!!!!! It was supposed to be for 90 minutes and he had us up for a little over 2 hours cause we were the last reservation for him.....I was wanting to be on the ground after the first 15 minutes!!!!
