...as you may or may not know, a new rating called Maritime Enforcement (ME) is in the process of being stood up.

This rating, as it forms over the next two years, is going to cause the PS rating to be decommissioned.

With that said, some of the powers that be have told me that any PS will not automatically become an ME.  PS billets at "M" units may all become MST billets.  PS billets at STAs may become BM or MK jobs.

I don't know what will happen at PSUs.  I would think MEs, specialists in LE and security, would replace the PSs.

With all of that said, it would behoove ANY AND ALL to watch for the ME EPQs to come out, and if you want to lateral to ME, get everything signed off up through your current PS rate.

The CMC(s) of the ME rating will be named later this year, and will be working on the EPQ along with a gaggle of other folks.

Many of you may remember when PS split into PS and FS (Fire Safety; this was when the food guys were SSs), then remerged, and then split again into PS and MST.

Unfortunately, no split this time; the PS rating is going away.

Get ready for it, be proactive and make your decision as to which way your career path is going to go.

THIS HAS BEEN THE WRITING ON THE WALL...
