I cant seem to remember the saying that goes along with advancing a shipmate to Petty Officer.

Back in 99 when I made MK3, the Chief and the MK2 had two sets of crows for me.  One old, one new.  When I was pinned, one old crow, one new crow was put on the collars of my shirt.  I cant seen to remember the little saying that went along with it.

does anyone else remember what I am talking about?

Sorry Cutter, my feeble attempt at early morning humor  ForJack!.  I think "pinning a crow on" had an entirely different meaning in the pre-"Bender Blues" days.  It might still be a tradition, but way back when, the E-4 crow was pinned on with a few healthy punches to the arm; can you say bruises  Oww

Is this it?

something simular...

All I can really remember is something about :    with this crow(old), it signifies the paths of coasties gone before you, and for you to follow their path.  With this crow (new), you are to help guide the junior costies to follow in your foot steps and be a mentor... or something to that nature... I am having CRS syndrome lately... its been like 9 years since I heard that saying, dont know if it was a Coast Guard wide thing, or just something the MK2 said to me when I was pinned....
