Note:  A long time ago I posted this picture somewhere else, didn't remember exactly where it was taken, but cross-referenced it now; I may have said somewhere else, but it is Talampulan.

I recognize Hughes, but I'll  be damned if I can remember if I knew him from the Blackhaw or another ship.  Seems like it was another ship.  Any idea when he reported aboard  or left?

He was my running mate.  Rotated off quite a bit after I did, could have possibly still been on board when you got there.  When he rotated home I was an instructor at Alameda and he transited through there; what we did to Oakland (or what Oakland did to us  ForJack!) wasn't pretty  drunk drunk

The #4 is SN Raeke (sp), I was on her from 1960 to 1961 as EN3. Made 1 1/2 WestPacs , got off at Subic...I'll try to remember as may names as I can Grin,.......the CO was LCmdr Wood...The BM1 was West, ran into him in Tampa and he was BMC Recruiting in Tampa. The SM2 was Perry which I also ran into him in Tampa, (2) RM's Doak Walker & Barrett, (2) Cooks Faolatanga & Baggio, (2) Stewards  Alojapan & Feria, Hey, there might have been more in each rate, but I'm listing the names that come to mind....Don't forget, I'm close to 70! Grin Grin....Sk2 Kruski, GM1 Carey, QM1 Johnson, I have pictures of others, but can't think of their names.....

OK, down the hatch, ENC Ownsby, EN1 Skinner, EN2 Porro, EN3 Garcia, FN Eckler........That's all I can remember... Grin Grin

BTW Fred, when I was on the USCGC Primrose WLI-316 moored at the USCG Buoy Yard in Corpus Christi, TX.....I was on with a few Texans...................For years I have been trying to locate a Texas Coastie that served with me at the USCG LORSTA Talampulan, Philippines....He was an ET2 back then, but I was informed he retired in Corpus Christi, TX as a ETC in 1976.......His name is Joe Ashly.....

hans,

After many hours of brain strain I do recall Hughes.  Good guy.  I'm sure we pulled some liberty together.  I remember after one memorable evening looking at Hughes the next morning and we both ended up laughing at each other because we both felt and looked like crap!   ROTF
