On ebay today we have an unusual World War II uniform from a CG gunner on LST #796.
I've never seen a specialty patch like this on a CG uniform.

Lots of great history on this Coastie and the LST on the ebay auction listing.

Seems to me that stuff all deserves to be in a museum, not on eBay.

New Smiley      What great artifacts from serving in the CG during WWII.
Problem is most museums in this present economy are hurting for money and volunteers.

Check out this online Photo Album of this great collection of artifacts.
I hope somebody rescues this collection for one of our CG Museums.

I may have to contact Adm Allen and see if he knows somebody that would be willing to rescue this collection.

I wonder if the CG has an 'official' museum anywhere?  Seems this would be a great thing to add.

The shoulder patch was established in Jan 1944 specifically for the Amphib Forces. There was one also done for the PT Boat crews and the SeaBees. They were discontinued after WW2.

FWIW, I just sent along two WW2 uniforms from the CG Shore Establishment (similar to the current uniform) and a pre 1976 set of CPO Dress White to  CWO Randy Litka at Training Center Yorktown. He is working on a display of past CG uniforms. Just about readty to send along 4 Seafarer dress whites FNEN, SK3,CS2, QM1 from the 1960 era.
