The following photo is from USCG veteran Bill Graham YN1.

Bill said, "The photo is of the COTP Seattle boats for 1962 - 40422 -40423 - 40424 - 40592 - 56307 - 64314.  A note the 40422 was the one Bill Muncey sank with the unlimited hydro during a Gold cup race."

Wonder if the 56307 is the one that ended up at TRACEN Alameda   If it is, I spent every Thursday on her between '71 - '72  Grin

Leave it to you Hans to take the thread off topic .........  Hammer .......  Grin

I believe you are right Hans.  From what I have been able to piece together
the 56307 was moved from Seattle to Alameda in the late 1960s/early 70s.

See my post  HERE.

Anyone know how man of the 40's were radar equiped. I operated the 40509 which had radar. I brought the 509 from East Tawas to Belle Isle and we had it at the Grosse Isle house boat in the fall of 63

Hey Bill,

We "out processed" 40509 from USCGSTA St Joseph Mi in 78 or 79, either went to Chicago FD or Milwaukee. And it still had the radar then. Only reason I remember is cause it was the 1st 40 I had ever seen WITH radar. And when I was @ SJ I think we outprocessed three or 4 of 'em that we got from different parts of the GL's, and the 40 that was @ SJ(40499). And I think the 509 was the only one I saw W/radar.I think we had the 508 boat there as well-JRC

Here is Bugsey's beloved 40450 when she was on active duty at Coast Guard Station Eaton's Neck, N.Y.
