Hell here in Ark, seafood to these folks is catfish and shrimp. Damn but i do miss cod.

Oh yeah?  What do you love most?  The humidity or the mosquitos?   ROTF

Humidity isn't bad at all when you have cool temperatures ... highs in the mid to upper seventies in July and August.

Skeeters ... only squiters I knew were stationed on the meSQUITE and we didn't bite anybody .. just got drunk and disorderly.

i visited my brother when he was C.O. of the Naugatuck and stationed in the Soo.  Had a few beers too many, woke up on the porch with gigantic mosquito bites.  Saw three mosquitos carrying of a full grown Black Lab......

In the Soo they may not have been mosquitos but the northern black fly.  I survived southern New Jersey's green head flies and attack mosquitos the size of hummingbirds but the worst I've ever been bitten in my life was in Canada on a fishing trip by the northern black fly.

There about the same size as a mosquito and can drive you crazy ..

.  .  .   the worst I've ever been bitten in my life was in Canada on a fishing trip by the northern black fly.

There about the same size as a mosquito and can drive you crazy  .  .  .

There were two different kinds of black fly in northern Maine, one that looked like a small housefly & the other like a gnat. both had beaks like small pungee sticks treated with raw sewage. Even with proper treatment, their bites were likely to cause the flesh to rot away for an inch or so around the wound.

NASTY little bastiches.

While working on the Exxon Valdez oil spill.....just outside Anchorage they had roadside stands selling Avon Skin So Soft.  That stuff works pretty good as a mosquito repelent.  The mosquitos up there were the size of hummingbirds!

With it beeing a fairly cool summer here, not very many mosquitos and even the dog and cat haven't gotten any fleas this year.......

one of the many nice things about the ozark mountains is that there are NO mosequitoes, but we do got ticks, boy do we ever have ticks. then there are these little (about 1 mircon) things called chiggars, you can't feel them when there on you but boy do they itch like hell after they have bitten you.  AARRGGHH I spread so much pesticide on my lawn this year you would think that nothing could be living on it, but no every time I mow my legs itch for a couple of days and my legs look like I got some damn skin desease  AARRGGHH

I'll just have another beer while I lay in my hammock and look at the ground and watch the ticks gather below me and wait for my departure.
